Middlesex County is home to the Friendship Club, now in its 13th year, dedicated to enlisting and empowering area youth to organize and demonstrate their care for special needs children, the elderly and the infirm. Each week on Fridays, the teens and university students, ranging in age between 12 and 23, mobilize and visit residents of the area hospitals and homes of special needs children. They distributing flowers, gifts and toys and engage the participants in enjoyable artistic and theatrical activities.
The youth who are all part of Chabad’s leadership program, also conduct musical performances, create scrapbooks of seniors' lives, and participate in fun activities and projects. bringing smiles on the faces of the all participants. We also have enlisted a professional with a degree in special education and early childhood intervention working along side with these children and families.
